Eid al-Fitr this year will be celebrated in Hong Kong on March 21, 2026 (Saturday). The Board of Trustees has officially announced this date, marking the end of Ramadan and the beginning of festivities.

Eid al-Fitr is a significant occasion for the Muslim community, characterized by prayers, feasting, and communal gatherings. Families and friends come together to celebrate the conclusion of a month of fasting and reflection.

The moon sighting committee, comprising Ulema Kiraam and Trustees, met at Kowloon Masjid & Islamic Centre on Thursday, 19 March 2026 to sight the moon of Shawwal for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri / 2026. Moon sighting teams were sent to different locations across Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, but no sighting of the moon was recorded and no evidence was received. The committee also took into account moon sighting decisions from nearby countries.

After a detailed discussion, the committee unanimously decided that:

1st day of Shawwal and Eid al-Fitr in Hong Kong will be observed on Saturday, 21 March 2026.
