HKMuslim was born out of the recognition that there was a dire need for a comprehensive resource to navigate this dynamic metropolis as a member of our beloved community. As the premier platform for Hong Kong’s Muslim community, the HKMuslim app is designed to be your one-stop shop for all your needs. Whether you’re a longtime resident or a first-time visitor, this innovative web app aims to make your life easier and more connected.
Now, I know what you’re thinking – if it’s so great, why isn’t it available on the traditional app stores? The main reason is that we had to be mindful of our budget and development timeline. Building a comprehensive mobile app with all the features and verified information we wanted would have required significant upfront investment.
By launching as a web app first, we were able to build out the core functionality and refine the user experience without the hefty costs associated with native app development. This approach has allowed us to validate the demand for HKMuslim and fine-tune the offering before committing to the mobile app development. But don’t worry, the process is already underway, and we have plans to develop HKMuslim for both Android and iOS in the near future.
In the meantime, you can access the HKMuslim web app by simply visiting the website on your smartphone or tablet and adding it as a shortcut to your home screen. For Android users, open the website in Chrome, tap the menu icon (three dots in the upper right-hand corner), and select “Add to home screen.” On iPhones, open the website in Safari, tap the “Upload” button (the upward-facing arrow), and choose “Add to Home Screen.”

In the near future, we have plans to further develop the HKMuslim app, including adding new halal establishments and catering to evolving needs of the Muslim community in Hong Kong. Our goal is to continuously enhance the app’s capabilities to ensure it remains the go-to resource for Muslims living in or visiting this dynamic city.
