The moon sighting committee, headed by the Board of Trustees has announced the dates for Dhul Hijjah and Eid-ul-Adha for the year 2025. After convening on May 27, 2025, the committee, comprising esteemed scholars of Hong Kong, met at the Kowloon Masjid & Islamic Centre following the Maghrib prayer.
Due to cloudy weather conditions, the moon was not sighted. Consequently, the committee decided to align with the decision of JAKIM (Department of Islamic Development Malaysia).

ANNOUNCEMENT MOON SIGHTING FOR ZUL-HIJJAH / EID-UL-ADHA 1446 HIJRI / 2025
The moon sighting committee comprising of Hong Kong Ulema Kiraam and Trustees met at Kowloon Masjid & Islamic Centre, on Tuesday 27 May 2025 after Maghrib prayer to sight the moon of Zul-Hijjah and decide about the date Moon sighting teams were sent to different locations in Hong Kong Island and Kowloon to sight the moon but no sighting of the moon was recorded and no evidence was received due to cloudy weather. The committee decided to follow the decision of JAKIM (Department of Islamic Development Malaysia). After a detailed discussion the committee unanimously decided that: 18 DAY OF ZUL-HIJJAH WILL BE ON THURSDAY, 29 MAY 2025. EID-UL-ADHA WILL BE CELEBRATED ON SATURDAY, 7 JUNE 2025.
